Denver-based Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp. is an independent exploration and production company focused on exploring, developing and producing oil and natural gas in the U.S. Rocky Mountain region. Its core areas include the the Williston Basin in Montana and North Dakota, where highly prospective Bakken shale and Three Forks oil is targeted.  The Company's primary natural gas asset is located in the Vermillion Basin of the Greater Green River Basin of Wyoming and Colorado where the Baxter shale is the primary objective.
